Meet the Little Big House Family! Meet The Little Big House Family — Geraldine and Joella Davis
Geraldine and Joella packed their belongings and took with them the memories of their old neighborhood as they headed west, hoping they could eventually live near other family members who also faced the same dire situation. Along with Joella, Geraldine's son, Corey, and his family also traveled to Texas. They all settled in Dallas. Corey and his family were the first to qualify for a Habitat for Humanity home through the Dallas affiliate. Geraldine and Joella quickly followed, and will be living in The Little Big House.
Joella's hobbies include reading, going to movies, traveling and building computer systems. Geraldine enjoys reading, traveling and "crabbing" (fishing). |

When Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans, Geraldine Davis, 69, lost everything. Her former home was once a gathering place for family and the location where all special occasions were celebrated. After the storm it was reduced to rubble. Geraldine and her daughter, Joella, 47, quickly realized they couldn't remain in Louisiana.
Today Joella is the Administrative Manager for the Katrina Relief Center at Friendship West Baptist Church. She uses her background in business administration and computer sciences to help other families displaced by the hurricanes find what they need to recuperate from this traumatic time. Geraldine is a retired nurse's aide.
