Alumni Career Counseling Services

The University of Michigan offers career counseling for U-M alumni through one-on-one appointments. Depending on when you graduated and from which school or college you are affiliated, you may be eligible for these services. Below is a list of resources available on campus.

U-M Career Center

If your graduation date was less than 18 months ago, the Career Center provides free career counseling. Individuals who graduated from the University of Michigan Ann Arbor more than 18 months ago have access to career counseling for $75.00 per counseling appointment.

Architecture and Urban Planning

Taubman College Career Services offers a variety of programs, services and resources to assist students in exploring careers and securing internships and full time positions. Employers of Taubman College graduates include public, private, and nonprofit organizations in the U.S. and abroad. Services available include: events, programs and Workshops, spring break externship program, career and networking fair, career resources, job search skill development and individual career counseling.

Ross alumni can immediately market themselves to thousands of potential employers for FREE, using the new Ross Alumni Resume Database

The website also provides the tools, resources and network to help you make good decisions related to your career and execute effective career searches. Wherever you are in the career search process, this website can help with any of the following situations: Planning a career switch in the coming year, currently in the process of a career switch, happy in your current role but interested in staying current.

School of Engineering
The Engineering Career Resource Center (ECRC) provides graduates with many of the same services that current students have access to. Alumni of the College of Engineering may sign up for an account with ENGenius.Jobs, the ECRC’s web-based recruiting system. Graduates may also schedule an appointment with an ECRC Career Counselor for various offline services, including resume critiquing, cover letter reviews, job search advice, and mock interview sessions.

Kinesiology

The School of Kinesiology understands that our alumni network is one of our most valuable assets, and our contact with you is critical to the ongoing success of Michigan Kinesiology. With the Kinesiology Alumni Society, their annual Homecoming festivities, the Recent Alumni Reunion, U-M 50th Reunion, and career networking sessions, you are encouraged to come back home to Michigan and reconnect with your fellow Alumni and meet today’s Kinesiology students.

Law School

The Offices of Career and Public Services offer many tools and resources for alumni and both provide career advising. Job e-mail groups, alumni directory, resume and cover letter review, specialized counseling depending on type of job one is seeking.

LSA

LSA offers a variety of Career Services to both students and Alumni. Fee-based services include career counseling and assessment services and assessment workshops.

Natural Resources and Environment

SNRE’s Masters and PhD alumni have access to job postings and environmental employer database on the school’s eRecruiter system, can join SNRE’s alumni and student LinkedIn group for networking, and have access to extensive online career resources.

Pharmacy

The College of Pharmacy offers a job board/career opportunities, career events, resume help and more.

Public Health

The School of Public Health has much to offer but one of our greatest strengths is our ability to maximize our graduate students’ career potential. Within six months of graduation, 94 percent of School of Public Health students are either employed, finishing fellowships or internships, or pursuing advanced-degree or postdoctoral work. Services for students and alumni include, career strategy counseling, resume reviews, cover letter writing, mock interviews, negotiation and general career inquiries.

Public Policy

The Graduate Career Services Office is staffed with two full-time career counselors who work closely with MPP and MPA students. They also work with a wide range of employers to develop and enhance recruiting relationships with organizations in the US and abroad. Employer outreach efforts are conducted with peer institutions in the Association of Professional Schools of International Affairs (APSIA) as well as specifically for the Ford School.

The best time to start looking for your ideal job? The day you enter SI! In fact, we’re here with programs and advice from the time you enroll until long after you graduate.

Services available include career counseling, workshops and seminars, online resources on career-related topics, help with resumes and cover letters, job and internship search strategies, research on employers, Help locating position openings, interviewing coaching, help negotiating job and salary offers.

Social Work

The School of Social Work offers Professional development resources, resume and cover letter review, networking, interviewing help and salary.

The U of M Dearborn campus offers Career Services which include career planning, employment preparation, and career fairs and special events
