The Alumni Association’s Clubs Council is once again sponsoring a club-wide community service day on graduation on Saturday, April 30, 2011.
Clubs Council representatives encourage every club to participate in a community service event on that day. Clubs can select their own projects to work on that are specific to their area alumni and community needs.
The Alumni Association will have T-shirts available to commemorate the day for all volunteers to wear at their event. Encourage your local club to participate today!
The U of M Club of Atlanta will volunteer at The Tucker Nature Preserve and remove weeds, will plant, and pick up litter.
The U of M Club of Bay City will clean up a local park.
The U of M Club of Charlotte will volunteer at a local Habitat for Humanity event.
The U of M Club of Dallas will be helping along the Heart and Sol Run by working set-up, registration, water and food stations, parking and tear down.
The U of M Club of Denver will work with Families First at their family center by gardening and doing outdoor improvements.
The U of M Club of Delaware will adopt and clean a local highway.
The U of M Club of Greater Chicago will help out at a local homeless shelter.
The U of M Club of Greater Flint will volunteer at the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan.
The U of M Club of Gaylord will clean up two city parks.
The U of M Club of Hillsdale County will bake cookies and other treats for our military troops stationed abroad.
The U of M Club of Hilton Head will bake cookies for troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The U of M Club of Houston will work with local groups to plant trees in the city of Houston.
The U of M Club of Indianapolis will work at Gleaners Food Bank.
The U of M Club of Greater Lansing will participate in Komen Mid Michigan Race for the cure by helping to restore Capitol grounds by taking down tables, folding chairs, banners, etc.
The U of M Club of Los Angeles will work to produce care packages. They will also volunteer at Santa Monica Museum of Art by working check-in, security and clean up.
The U of M Club of Manistee will clean up a section of a local highway.
The U of M Club of Michiana will participate in Susan G. Komen Race for the cure in South Bend, Indiana.
The U of M Club of Milwaukee will pack bags of food and deliver them to a local senior center.
The U of M Club of New Hampshire will walk/race to raise funds for the Payson Center for Cancer Care at Concord Hospital.
The U of M Club of New York will help plant spruce trees in Riverside Park.
The U of M Club of Orange County will volunteer at the Second Harvest Food Bank.
The U of M Club of Philadelphia will plant annuals, mulch, and clear out weeds at the Keystone Hospice House.
The U of M Club of Richmond will work together doing work for an elderly Richmond resident.
The U of M Club of Sacramento will participate in a Habitat for Humanity event.
The U of M Club of San Diego will volunteer at San Pasqual Academy, a unique residential high school for foster kids.
The U of M Club of Seattle will volunteer at West Duwamish Greenbelt restoration project, organized by Nature Consortium.
The U of M Club of Silcon Valley will organize food for delivery to people in need at the Second Harvest Food Bank.
The U of M Club of St. Louis will prepare dinner for families staying at Ronald McDonald House adjacent to St. Louis Hospital.
The U of M Club of Sun Cities and West Valley will work and support the Valley Vista Food Bank.
The U of M Club of Toledo will plant tree seedlings for a local metropark.
The U of M Club of Triangle area will help out after riding lessons at Horse and Buddy by digging rocks from pastures, trimming brush and maintaining trails.
The U of M Club of Twin Cities will work with Metro Blooms organization to plant and maintain “raingardens” in the Powderhorn Park neighborhood in Minneapolis. The project helps restore water quality while beautifying the area.
The U of M Club of Washington, DC will spend the day at a local DC public school painting, cleaning and landscaping.
