To advance the University of Michigan’s richly productive, diverse academic culture, the Alumni Association has developed scholarships for incoming students.
Why Diversity?
After a drop in diversity of the 2007 incoming class in Ann Arbor, the Alumni Association board of directors established the LEAD Scholars Fund to assure the continued diversity of the student body. Diversity is a valued part of U-M life. It is also a critical element in U-M excellence. Each year, approximately 25 LEAD Scholars on the Ann Arbor campus receive renewable scholarships of up to $10,000. Beginning with the incoming Class of 2010, the Alumni Association awards LEAD Scholarships to one incoming student at UM-Flint and one at UM-Dearborn each year.
