Michigan Alumni Day at "The Color Purple"
Meet an Actor at an Exclusive Pre-Show Reception At Michigan Alumni Day at "The Color Purple," you can gather with fellow U-M alumni before the show for a special brunch. Cast member, Rufus Bonds, Jr. will join us and talk about what it’s like to be part of this powerful performance. Rufus Bonds, Jr. performed the role of Mufasa in Julie Taymor’s Broadway production of“The Lion King”. Bonds has been recognized for his work in the Los Angeles premier of “Because They Have No Words”, directed by Emilie Beck, and for his portrayal of Jim in the Los Angeles Deaf West production of Big River. He has worked with such greats as Stephen Sondheim in “Merrily We Roll Along”, William Finn in “Romance in Hard Times” and Harold Prince in “Parade”, for which Bonds was nominated for both the Drama Desk and the FANY Award.
