The World Health Organization estimates that roughly 25 percent of women and 10 percent of men suffer from depression at some point in their lives. Unfortunately, most people still have to get through the workday while battling depression. The most important step is to seek treatment, but even after doing so, recovery doesn’t occur overnight. The Wall Street Journal offers some tips on how to handle your job while struggling with depression:

  • Try to maintain a daily work routine.
  • Resist the urge to isolate yourself.
  • Pay attention to your appearance. Solicit the help of friends and family for advice on laying out outfits and serving as your “fashion police.”
  • Avoid alcohol.
  • Try to eat well and exercise.
