M-TAC Officers for 2012-2013
Gary Clark, a Raleigh resident since 1992, is a 1983 graduate of Ferris State University and a lifelong Michigan Wolverine fan. A Michigan football season ticket holder since 1999, Gary joined the University of Michigan Alumni Association as an associate member in 2002. A former Manager of U of M Sports Travel desk and Technical Sales Consultant with Sabre Holdings, Gary now works as a local Realtor with Coldwell Banker, serving the Triangle market and helping clients all over the US to find a Realtor. An avid fly-fisherman and member of Trout Unlimited and American Forests, Gary joined the M-TAC board as a Director in 2010.
Brendie Vega earned her BA in Spanish and Latin American & Caribbean Studies in 1997 and a Masters in Urban Planning in 2000 from the University of Michigan. Brendie was a CAAS Moody Exchange Scholar to South Africa in 1999 and 2000 where she was part of research teams collecting data on squatter settlements and street vendors. Brendie has served as a Senior City Planner at the City of Detroit; the Planning Director for Alpine Township (MI); and is currently the Principal Planner for the Town of Apex. Brendie came to the Triangle in 2006 and resides in Apex with her daughter, Kaya, 2 dogs and a cat.
Tanneisha Barlow earned her Bachelor of Science from UofM in 1995 and her MD from Michigan State University in 2001. She attended Indiana University in Indianapolis for her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology where she finished in 2005. While attending the University of Michigan, she was a cheerleader for both football and basketball for all four years. Currently she resides in Raleigh were she is an associate at Centre Obstetrics and Gynecology. Tanneisha served as a Director for FY09.
Peter Pickus earned his BGS from the UofM in 1989 and returned to earn his MBA in 1994. He’s since lived in Chicago, Little Rock, and Cary. He’s a dedicated Michigan fan and has served as president of the UofM Alumni Club in Chicago and here in the Triangle. Peter is currently a director for the Corporate Executive Board. He is a proud husband to Jennifer and dad to Alex (class of 2026) and Samuel (class of 2030) and the favorite week for the whole family is the week at Camp Michigania.
Mike Kalt graduated from the UofM in 1973 with a BA in Political Science. His favorite Ann Arbor memory is sitting in the last row of the north end zone at the Big House (which they didn't call it then) for The Greatest Game Ever Played--Michigan's 24-12 victory over Ohio State's "team of the century". He came to North Carolina in 1973 and never left, getting a PhD in Political Science from UNC Chapel Hill. He is currently a Technical Training Specialist at SAS Institute. He has been involved with M-TAC since 1996 and has served two terms as M-TAC president. In FY09, Mike served as Treasurer.
Meredith Kaplan graduated in 2005 from U of M's School of Art & Design with a Bachelor of Fine Arts and concentration in graphic design. Upon graduation she worked as a graphic design coordinator in Toledo, OH for ProMedica Health System. In 2008 she and her husband move to North Carolina where they worked as freelance video editors and designers for 4 years. Meredith now works as a Dynamic Media Designer for Capstrat and spends every weekend in the fall watching Wolverine and Lions football.
Monica Kennedy graduated from the UofM in 2005 and was fortunate to be involved in many exciting and unique opportunities. She volunteered with the Detroit Project, participated in Dance Marathon helping raise money for Mott's Children Hospital, played several IM sports, and was a section leader in the Michigan Marching Band where she marched in the 2004 Rose Bowl. On top of all the fun stuff, she also went to class and received a bachelor degree in elementary education. Now living in North Carolina, Monica enjoys spending as much time outdoors as possible: kayaking, camping, and hiking. She volunteers with groups like Rebuild Together and REI. Professionally, Monica teaches 6th grade social studies in Raleigh and plays the Victors for each class.
Sean MacDonald was born in Rochester, MI but grew up in Lapeer, MI and graduated from Lapeer East High School in 1991. He then moved to Ann Arbor and studied English and graduated from Michigan in 1999 with a BGS. After moving to Charlotte, NC, he returned to school and graduated from UNC-Charlotte in 2002 with a Masters degree in English. He spent more than a decade in Charlotte before moving to Durham in 2011. Since graduating, Sean has tutored and taught children of all ages and abilities. He currently teaches children with learning disabilities at The Fletcher Academy in Raleigh. He married Erin MacDonald in 2012 in Scotland and has been working to convert her to a Michigan fan ever since.
