Best Practices: Example #7

Club nameU of M Club of Hillsdale County
Program nameAnnual U-M/MSU competitive blood drive
Program dateApproximately one week before U-M/MSU football game
How was this program promoted?Red Cross postcards. Also included on fliers created by whichever alumni club hosts that year's pep rally, which is held the same week.
How many people were responsible for planning this program and about how much time did it require? One or two per alumni club. Very little time needed as most work is done by the Red Cross.
How much did this program cost the club?Only the cost of any additional ink to include a blurb about the blood drive on the pep rally fliers
How much did the club charge participants?N/A
What "sold" this program to members (what was the highlight)?Friendly competition with in-state rivals done in a way that also promotes community service through the Red Cross
How many people attended?Approximately 75-100 each year
Is there additional information you would like to share? To give proper credit, this was started by the MSU club, when its president was very active in Red Cross. All we have to do is attend a meeting and/or provide names and addresses to the Red Cross for sending postcards.
