Best Practices for Alumni Clubs

Best Practices: Example #40

Club nameU of M Club of Calhoun County
What made you choose this method of promotion? The mailing would reach all club members.
Why is this means of promotion better than other methods? The club was able to ask members their preferences on involvement, both financial and otherwise, in club and community activities.
Who helped to make this happen (stranger from local paper, AAUM, club member w/connections)?One of our board members had prepared similar surveys for her job.
How much did this cost the club? The only cost was the use of our club's annual mailing by the Alumni Association.
How far in advance of needing it did you have to prepare the materials (how much planning did it take)?Preparation took approximately two months, and the survey was reviewed at two board meeting. We did this near the end of our first year of reactivation of our club. It has proven to be an excellent insight into how to proceed with activities for our club.
How did this benefit the club?It has been excellent planning material for our activities. We aimed at low numbers and are trying to build a small, dependable base of alumni upon which to build the club's future.
Is there additional information you would like to share? This was a reality check on members' desires, extent of involvement, and financial and personal support.
