Best Practices for Alumni Clubs

Best Practices: Example #17

Club nameU of M Club of Honolulu
Program nameHawaiian Hospitality
Program dateNot sure when we started this
How was this program promoted?A few people got together and came up with the idea of doing something for the swim team.
How many people were responsible for planning this program and about how much time did it require?Three to four people. It requires about three or four hours per event.
How much did this program cost the club?About $70 to $90
How much did the club charge participants? No charge. We used club funds.
What "sold" this program to members (what was the highlight)? It was our way of providing team members with a memorabilia of Hawaii.
How many people attended?About six to 12 alumni
Is there additional information you would like to share?Because of increased security at airports, we no longer greet the team as it arrives. We arrange with the coach to meet with the team and present the leis. The leis are made of kukui nuts and are something that team members can keep for a long time. We also did something similar for the women's volleyball team when it visited Hawaii.
