Choosing the Official Tour

What are the benefits of joining a tour?

Joining a tour conducted by a professional tour operator offers convenience, reputation, and peace-of-mind so the focus can be on enjoying yourself and cheering on the Wolverines. Since 1964, Conlin Athletic Tours has taken more than 100,000 fans to almost every bowl game. That means we know all the best airlines, hotels, event sites, and activities to make your tour experience the most enjoyable and memorable possible.

Why should I join the Official Tour?

In joining the Official Tour, you can be assured of a quality travel experience with a tour operator that has been researched and endorsed by the University and the Alumni Association. This means a worry-free experience for all travelers, knowing that every aspect of the tour is being carried out by a professional and experienced tour operator.

Isn't it less expensive to go on my own?

People often assume that organized tours are more expensive; this is not always true. Based on great feedback from our alumni, we’re excited to announce a new pricing structure that incorporates a “Build-Your-Own” tour experience: flexible tour dates, multiple options for game tickets, optional events and activities, and children travel for as low as $199.

Organized transfers alone, between events, make your investment worthwhile. No need to search for parking in remote areas or having to depend upon public transportation. Inclusive tours offer a great buy due to large group discount pricing. And, don’t forget the fun and memories that go along with sharing your tour experience with other alumni and loyal fans!

What makes your tour better than other, less expensive tours?

Traveling with the Alumni Association is the only way to do a bowl game. In partnership with Conlin Athletic Tours, the Alumni Association has been offering collegiate athletic tours for more than 50 years. These bowl tours are a can’t-miss experience that include the convenience, access, camaraderie, and perks you’ll find only with the Alumni Association.

It's my first time on a tour; what should I expect?

For many travelers, a professionally escorted tour is the best way to experience a unique and exciting event such as a bowl game. A properly planned tour will provide the details, assurances, and framework necessary to allow the tour participant to maximize enjoyment of the overall experience. With the right combination of included items and free time, most people find a tour to be the best way to attend a game.

General Tour Questions

What is a Land-Only Tour?

A Land-Only Tour begins upon arrival at the tour hotel. Because tour participants live all over the world, and many wish to use frequent flyer miles or cash-in rewards, departing from the university’s home airport is not convenient for everyone. Land-Only participants take care of their own transportation to the tour city and hotel. Upon check-in at the hotel, they are officially on the tour. Subsequently, on departure day, Land-Only participants are again responsible to arrange for return transportation home. Conlin Athletic Tours can arrange airline reservations for Land-Only participants upon request.

What defines a "child" traveler?

Participants ages 2-17 are defined as “children.” Children must share a room with at least one adult. Two adults rooming with two children would pay the double rate for the adults and the child’s price for the children. One adult sharing with one or more children would pay the single adult rate and the child’s price for the children.

What defines an "infant"?

Any child under 2 years of age is defined as an “infant.” There is no charge for infants on the tour. Under these terms, they cannot occupy a seat on the plane, or any other form of conveyance—they must be held on the lap of an adult. A game ticket is required for a child of any age.

Can I make special requests?

We will make every attempt to accommodate special requests; however, please understand they cannot be guaranteed.

What if I want two beds in my room?

Every effort will be made to accommodate room-type requests; however, they cannot be guaranteed. Hotels have a limited number of double-bedded rooms.

Can I earn reward points at the tour hotel?

Point programs vary throughout the hotel industry. It is best to research your program for complete information.

What if I want to check in early or check out late?

This can be requested, but not guaranteed.

TOUR CANCELLATIONS

Cancellations in writing received on or before Dec. 8, 2017, are refundable in full, less a $200.00 per person administrative fee. Group air is NON-REFUNDABLE. Cancellations received after Dec. 8 are non-refundable unless a qualified replacement can be found, in which case a full refund will be made, less a $200.00 per person administrative fee. Refunds will be made within 14 days of receipt of your notice of cancellation.

APPLICATIONS

Hotel rooms are limited to our contracted capacity. Applications will be processed on a priority-based first-come, first-served basis to the capacity of our available space. Payment in full must accompany this application.

AIR TRANSPORTATION

Optional Group Air, purchased in connection with the Land Only Package, is non-refundable. In accordance with their filed tariffs, all airlines and any agents are governed by regulations issued by the Department of Transportation and will act in accordance with these regulations with respect to any circumstance (e.g., flight delays). Baggage fees will apply. Seat assignments are not guaranteed and will be assigned by Delta Airlines.

HOTELS

While every effort has been made to honor your hotel preference, it cannot be guaranteed. The tour company has the right to substitute hotels when necessary and add or delete hotels as needed.

INFANTS

Under 2 years old. There is no charge for infants on the tour; however, a game ticket is required for a child of any age.

CHILDREN (Ages 2-17)

Children must share room with parent(s) and do not count in room count total. Two adults rooming with two children would pay the double rate for the adults and the children’s price for the children. An adult must accompany children. One adult sharing with one or more children would pay single adult rate and children’s price for the children.

TRIPLE AND QUAD ROOMS

Triples and Quads refer to how many adults are in the room and not to how many beds are in the room or size of the room. Most Triples and Quads have two double beds. Some involve the use of cots or couches with pull-out beds.

DISABILITY SERVICE NEEDS

Persons with physical disabilities requiring wheelchairs or special assistance must notify Conlin Travel, Inc. as to the nature of the disability at the time of booking. Persons requiring extraordinary assistance must be accompanied by someone who can and will be totally responsible for providing all required assistance.

University of Michigan, the Alumni Association of the University of Michigan, and Conlin Travel, Inc. have no responsibility in whole or in part for any delays, delayed departure or arrival, missed carrier connections, loss, death, damage, weather, strikes, acts of God, circumstances beyond our control, force majeure, war, acts of terrorism, quarantine, criminal activity, expense, accident, sickness, injury or death to person or property, or mechanical defect, failure or negligence of any nature howsoever caused in connection with any accommodation, restaurant, transportation or other services or for any substitution of hotels or of common carrier equipment beyond our control, with or without notice, or for any additional expenses occasioned thereby. No refund will be made for any unused portion of the tour due to these causes or voluntary cancellations. Baggage is at the owner’s risk entirely. The issuance or acceptance of such tickets and coupons shall be deemed to be consent to the future conditions that they shall not become liable or responsible in any way in connection with such means of transportation or any other services, for any loss, injury or damage to or in respect to person or property, howsoever caused or arising. Conlin Travel, Inc. reserves the right to withdraw the tour, to refuse to accept or retain any person as a member of the tour at any time, or to make changes in the published itinerary whenever in their sole judgment conditions warrant, or if they deem it necessary for the comfort, convenience, or safety of the tour. The airlines and other transportation companies concerned are not to be held responsible for any act, omission, or event during the time passengers are not on board their conveyances. The Passage Contract, in use by the company concerned, when issued, shall constitute the sole contract between the company and the purchaser of these tours and/or passengers.

TOUR CHANGES

If we make major changes prior to departure, you have the right to cancel and receive a full refund. The following are major changes: 1) a change in the departure or return date, unless the change results from a flight delay experienced by the air carrier, or an overnight return flight. 2) a change in the origin or destination city, unless the change affects only the order in which cities named in a tour package are visited; and 3) a price increase of more than 10 percent occurring 10 or more days before departure. In no event can we increase your price less than 10 days before departure. If a major change must be made in the program, we will notify you within 7 days after first learning of the change, but in any event, at least 10 days prior to the scheduled departure. If, less than 10 days before scheduled departure, we become aware that a major change must be made, we will notify you as soon as possible. Within 7 days after receiving notification of a major change, but in no event later than departure, you may cancel your reservation and you will receive a full refund within 14 days after canceling. If a major change occurs after the departure of the flight which you are unwilling to accept, we will refund, within 14 days after your scheduled return date, that portion or your payment which applies to the services not accepted. If we must cancel the charter, we will notify you in writing within 7 days of the cancellation, but in no event later than 10 days before the scheduled departure date. We have no right to cancel the charter less than 10 days before departure, except for circumstances that make it physically impossible to perform the charter trip. If that occurs, we will make a full refund to you within 14 days after cancellation.

The rights and remedies made available under this contract are in addition to any other rights or remedies available under applicable law. However, we offer refunds under this contract with the express understanding that the receipt of that refund by a passenger waives any additional remedies.
